Author(s): Dr. Leonard Nkouka Safoulanitou

Abstract:

This research examines the impacts of Covid-19 on SMEs in Congo using data from the business survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics in 2020. SMEs in this country were severely affected by this shock, one year after the adoption of the containment measures. The survey found that all SMEs have been affected in some way by the Covid-19 pandemic. SMEs in the Congo reduced hiring, working hours, and sales. A small proportion of SMEs had reduced workers' wages. In addition, none of the SMEs received the assistance promised by the government.
